QCE PE: IA2 Investigation Report Support Pack

QCE PE: IA2 Investigation Report Support Pack

Knowing and understanding PE concepts is one thing, but we know that the experiential nature of the course means the key skill for students is being able to apply that knowledge to the real world tactical, ethical, and training scenarios, as well as within the now heavily weighted exam.

It's a skill that requires explicit modelling, both cognitively and physically, so students can visualise what the application of their learning looks like. No wonder why our PE teachers tell us it’s hard to fit in highly academic content with time for applied practicals.

We can help.

When it comes to IA2, if the big challenge is finding enough class time to teach Ethics concepts and model the investigation report: don’t stress, we’ve got your back with these resources. They’re made and presented by experienced teachers, bespoke to the QCE.

Level up students' retrieval and comprehension of cognitive verbs with these hands-on, engaging lessons

  • “I have, who has” - to help students memorise verbs. The hands-on nature of this lesson fosters collaboration and engagement.
  • “Sugarcoat your verbs” - to help students comprehend the nuances and differences between verbs. By making students apply verbs to lollies, it removes the complexities of content and activates their prior knowledge… of lollies!

Flip some content to recycle class time

To help students understand what the ethical dilemma is and model effective strategies to address it, use this lesson on Ethical Dilemmas (subscription required).

  • It covers what ethical dilemmas are, unpacks case studies and responses, and tests students for their knowledge, understanding, and comprehension.
  • Need more video lessons to recycle class time? We have every syllabus dot point covered.

Scaffold the ethical decision making framework with this IA2 WAGOLL (What A Good One Looks Like)

To help students understand the ethical decision-making framework, understand how to analyse and synthesise data and apply it to the IA2, use these TWO Edrolo masterclass on the framework: Part 1 and Part 2

  • You can even encourage students to take notes as they engage with with our ready-made scaffolded note-taking templates downloaded from the above links!

Build writing, analysis and evaluative skills with these masterclasses and lesson ideas

Offline lessons and resources on writing - includes handouts for students, graphic organizers, word walls and exemplars. Great to do offline as a collaborative task.
